  1. Dr. Stuart Rowan was promoted to Full Professor with Tenure.
  2. Graduate Student Rudy Wojtecki was awarded a NASA Graduate Student Fellowship.
 
2007
  1. Graduate student Justin Fox spent a month working with collaborators at the University of Reading (UK) on self-healing supramolecular polymers.
  2. Graduate student Lauren Buerkle won a third place poster prize at the Youngish Giants of Chemistry Conference, Edinburgh, Scotland for systematic tailoring of supramolecular gels.
  3. High school student Erin Schikowski (mentored by graduate student Blayne McKenzie) was an Intel Talent Search Finalist (1 of 40, chosen from 1705 entrants) for her work on metallo-supramolecular polymers.
  4. High school student Erin Schikowski was also a finalist in the Siemens Westinghouse competition (1 of 300) for her work on metallo-supramolecular polymers.
  5. Graduate student Wengui Weng was awarded the 2007 Bayer Corporation Fellowship for Excellence in Graduate Study in Macromolecular Science, awarded to the best graduate student in our department each year.
  6. Undergraduate Student J. Casey Johnson (mentored by graduate students Blayne McKenzie and Adriane Miller) was awarded CWRU SOURCE (Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors) funding for summer research.
  7. Dr. Stuart Rowan was appointed Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering, CWRU.
 
2006
  1. High school student Erin Schikowski participated in the 8th annual Hathaway Brown School Poster Session (Intel ISEF Affiliated) and was the recipient of two awards - a. Air Force Award for Excellence in Science Research (1 of 16) and b. Most Outstanding Eleventh Grade Exhibit in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry (Yale Science & Engineering Association, Inc.).
  2. Graduate student Blayne McKenzie won the "Top Poster" award at the 2006 ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry Biennial Meeting.
  3. Graduate student Lauren Buerkle was awarded an NSF Graduate Student Fellowship for 3 years of tuition and research funding.
  4. Dr. Stuart Rowan was given the honor of "Mortar Board Top Prof" by the Case Mortar Board Chapter.
  5. Dr. Stuart Rowan received the Case School of Engineering Teaching Recognition Award.
  6. Dr. Stuart Rowan received a Research Appointment at the Louis Stokes Medical Center, VA Hospitals, Cleveland.
  7. Dr. Stuart Rowan was appointed Adjunct Professor of Chemistry, CWRU.

  1. Dr. Stuart Rowan was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure of Macromolecular Science and Engineering, CWRU.

  1. Graduate student J. Ben Beck was awarded the 2004 Bayer Corporation Fellowship for Excellence in Graduate Study in Macromolecular Science, awarded to the best graduate student in our department each year.
  2. Graduate student J. Ben Beck was awarded the 2004 YCC Excellence in Graduate Study Award from the Cleveland ACS Division.
  3. Graduate student J. Ben Beck participated in the 2004 ACS Excellence in Graduate Study Polymer Science Research Symposium, ACS Polymer Division.
  4. Undergraduate student Eric Giles (mentored by graduate students Ben Beck and Chris Singleton) received first prize at the 2004 Inspire Conference (Interstate Network of Science Programs Integrating Research and Education).
  5. Dr. Stuart Rowan received the Case School of Engineering Teaching Recognition Award.
